Read if you want to Know why you cannot mock an "Herbolario" Anymore

An Herbolario (pronounced as "Erbolario", silent "H") is a primitive "herbal doctor" who heals people using herbs and traditional practices. Herbolarios are very knowledgeable about nature and very sensitive to spiritual experiences. They are often called "Healers"/ "Mangagamot" and trusted by folks in a community.

By just knowing this, i realized that there is more in my name. few years ago, I attended an event in the Theosophical Society and one of the invited sharers was an herbal healer from Amazon. I was caught in surprise when she told the audience that herbal healers are scattered around the world and they were the saviors of our primitive civilization, and they are the people who have been gifted to connect to unseen nature and deliver healing.

In the pre-historic period up to Medieval Period, Herbolarios were treated as respected members of the community. One community is weak without an Herbolario. Oftentimes, kings, rajas, or tribal leaders considered an Herbolario at their side because of their skills and expertise to heal using herbs and spiritual energies.

A community or a tribe without an Herbolario will hardly survive.

In the 16th century, through the immersion of Christianity, Herbolarios adapted and turned into "Albularios" the term given by common folks which were also known into several counterparts like Babaylan, Mananambal, Mumbaki, Shaman etc. The Herbolarios had combined the healing skills into religious practices, prayers, and rituals. the Herbolarios were able to syncretize the ancient mode of healing with the new religion.

As time went by, when Modern Medicine arose in the 18th century, people began to shift their preferences to Academic Doctors than Herbolarios. Through Modernization, science paved its way to create new technology and shaped the contours of Healing.

People nowadays choose to go to Doctors than Herbolarios. Modern people prefer to take medicine tablets and more accurate dosages with synthesized chemicals than natural and herbal medicines advised by Herbolarios. At the advent of modern Medicine and the proliferation of pollution due to lofty advances in technology, Herbolarios began to lose its adeptness in connecting to Nature, Herbs, and Spiritual Energies. They started to lose effectiveness and they are hard to find. They are now wandering around rural areas and places where the spirits of vegetation and herbs are still intact, fresh and undisturbed.

Nowadays, we often take "Herbolarios" for granted. We often mock them to be witches, or false doctors/ healers. But if you are going to review our history, they are very important foundations to Modern Medicine. Herbolarios paved its way to lead Modern Medicine into WHAT IT IS NOW. The Cilantro, Peppermint, Lemon Balm, or treated Oregano, etc synthesized in tablets and bottles now were firstly used by Herbolarios to cure diseases. Do they use complex instruments? the answer is NO, they do not use scholarly research for it, they used their collective experiences and connections with spirits and nature to discover the healing properties of these vegetations. Herbolarios may not have stethoscopes or X-ray machines in the past but they have the ability to connect to higher spirits to gain intuition to heal.
I believe that words have power, and i am proud that i got a name that is very historical and majestic. Nobody can mock a name that FIRSTLY SAVED AND HEALED HUMANITY WHEN MODERN MEDICINE WAS NOT YET AROUND.

Herbolarios may be done in its role to mankind, but its legacy will still continue. . . and I got it!
Proud to be a Herbolario!!!

Kaya sa mga Herbolario Clan, be proud of your surname. I am happy to tell this to all future Herbolarios, i am also looking forward to having a Modern Doctor in our Clan. Then our name will have the marriage of the primitive and the modern science of healing. If not in this generation, then maybe in our next generations to come.

Prophetic Hope: "LET THERE BE A "DOCTOR" AMONG THE HERBOLARIO CLAN"
If God Permits, i will also create research and a book on Herbolarios so if my sons and daughters will be mocked by their peers... They can show to them the historical reference of the mark of Herbolario, with PRIDE.
